Steamboat Springs Motels

Colorado has some of the best skiing destinations in the United States and one of the best known among them is Ski Town, USA also called Steamboat Springs. Named after the infamous hot springs of the Rockies that to early settlers sounded like steamboats, the city of Steamboat Springs is fast becoming the preferred winter destination the world over.

Even a vacation in paradise can turn in to a nightmare with the wrong sort of lodging. Individuals have different preferences and not every establishment can cater to all of them. The town of Steamboat Springs, regardless of its size, has so many rentals and rooms on offer that it would be quite impossible for a vacationer not to find one to suit his tastes. The most popular staying options in the city are the winter resorts and ski lodges owing to their proximity to the famous slopes of the Rocky Mountains. However, if the tourist is interested in the attractions around the city the best places to stay are the wayside motels.

Apart from the snow-covered slopes, Steamboat Springs is also home to so some of the most accessible geothermal springs and hot water pools in North America. The Steamboat Health and Recreation Association as well as the Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs, the best places to soak up the Earth’s heat, are located on the outskirts of the city and neither provides long-term staying options. The motels located in their vicinity like the much-celebrated Rabbit Ears motel are a comfortable option to living in the main city.

During the summer seasons, when skiing activities are replaced with fly-fishing and kayaking, the highlights moves form the center town to the suburbs. The best places to in summer are generally located on the route to the Routt National Forest. People can also use the motels to spend part a day or two of their vacations, during which they can visit the attractions around the motel. The average pricing for winter seasons is about $75 - $150 and in summers fall to approximately $85.

How to Select Motels and Hotels for Romance with Single Women

This week I want to give you some valuable advice about taking single women to motels/hotels.

At some point in your pursuit of romance you will have opportunities to take women on out of town trips or just to a local motel for some lovemaking.

I want you to be aware that it’s very critical to a woman what the motel looks like and more importantly what the room looks like. A lot us men could care less if a motel looks like a dive. However, it’s very important to the ladies.

The most important advice I can give you is to never pay for a room without looking at it first because the room may be a real turn-off for the woman you are with and I’ll tell you why:

* It may smell musty and trust me, women have very strong sense of smell.

* Have see-through curtains which will make her feel uncomfortable thinking that someone could see what is going on in the room.

* A hard or lumpy mattress.

* Stains on the carpet.

* Walls that need painting.

* A room that’s old and outdated and needs to be remodeled.

* Mold or leak stains on the ceiling tiles.

* Cracks in the walls.

* Ugly bedspreads, etc.

I’m sure you get the picture. With the reputable motel and hotel chains you usually don’t run into these problems. In my experience, motels that are run by individuals and not chains can really be dumps on the inside. Also those motels that have discount coupons in travel publications can be very disappointing. They use discount coupons to lure you to their motels. In this case there’s a lot of truth to old saying, “You get what you pay for.” To make the best impression on the woman you take to motels or hotels, take them to a reputable motel or hotel chain. They have a reputation to uphold and want to give you a nice room and amenities so you will come back. Go ahead and spend the extra bucks for a quality place to stay because it will be worth it.

Here’s some more tips on selecting a place to impress the ladies:

* Offers Continental Breakfast.

* Hair dryers in the room so she can dry her hair after taking a shower.

* Coffee maker in the room.

* Nice swimming pool and jacuzzi.

Also, don’t let them give you a room next to an elevator. People make noise when waiting for the elevator or when coming out. Also, some elevators make a beeping noise when they stop at your floor (This can awaken you when you are trying to sleep). Even worse, don’t let them give you a room next to a ice-maker. The machines can be noisy and people are always going back and forth at all hours and this can make a lot of noise that can interfere with you getting a good night’s sleep.

There you have it. Some rules to follow when selecting a motel or hotel to impress the lady you are with. You certainly want them to be happy with your selection to keep them in a romantic mood. If they are disgusted and turned off by their environment this can make her uncomfortable and spoil your chances for romance.

Pet Friendly Motels, Pet Hotels, Dog Friendly Hotels, and Pet Travel

If you are a frequent traveler and animal owner, you are probably aware that there are pet friendly motels that you can bring your dog or cat to while you are on the road. If you hate leaving your pets at a boarding shelter while you are traveling, you would be wise to find pet hotels along your route so that your beloved family members can stay with you. Many dog friendly hotels allow canines up to a certain weight with no extra deposit. Some pet friendly motels do require a deposit, and larger pets and reptiles are not allowed.

Before you book your rooms, check that your pet friendly motels are accepting pets matching the weight of your animal. Some pet hotels will require that you keep the animal in a cage in your room, and most dog friendly hotels insist that your canine is kept on a leash at all times when it is outside of your room. There are many websites that are specialize in pet friendly hotel or condo rentals, with easy to use guides to help you to find the best lodging that is both convenient for you and comfortable for your animals.

If you plan to be away for long periods of time, you might reconsider bringing along your animal to pet friendly motels. Some animals do better at home with a sitter or in a boarding facility than traveling around to various pet hotels. When you reserve a room at dog friendly hotels, you will want to ask what the policies are regarding animals, and whether there is a deposit. Most overnight lodging establishments will always allow seeing-eye or service dogs no matter what their pet policies are. The more research that you do on the lodging options for your vacation or travel destination, the more comfortable your pet will be on the road. Also, if you are travelling by plane, don’t forget to check with the airlines about their pet policies. Many airlines require larger dogs to be in a cage in the checked luggage section of the plane and also need to see proof of animal licenses, especially when travelling to a foreign country. Smaller dogs and cats can sometimes be carried on to the plane in a pet carrier if the carrier is small enough to fit under the plane’s seat back.

When you are preparing to leave for your pet friendly hotel, be sure to pack along some portable pet bowls and enough food and water supply for your pet to last for the duration of your trip. You might also want to bring a small blanket or toy from home to remind your pet of the scents of their home. If you are driving to your destination, you might want to search for dog parks along your route or plan for stops to walk your dog for at least 30 minutes to release their energy. If you are travelling with a cat, consider bringing a portable litter box that your cat can use on the road or in your hotel room. Most importantly, be sure your pets are secure in your vehicle and won’t pose a hazard to the driver.

Colorado Vacation Lodging - Are There Still Mom And Pop Motels, Lodges And Resorts?

When you are on vacation, staying at a cookie cutter, chain hotel, helps assure a basic quality, but sometimes you just want something different. You should be glad to know that there are still small resorts, motels and lodges that are family owned and run. And guess where you’ll find them?

Well, bed and breakfasts are generally owned and operated by wife and husband teams, but you’ll find a good number of family owned lodges, motels, and small resorts too. It is often easier to find them than you think, particularly in the more traditional vacation destinations in Colorado. Areas around Durango, just west of Colorado Springs in Manitou Springs, and the Estes Park area, to name a few. These areas have many more mom and pop lodges, resorts, cabins, and campgrounds than any of the corporate hotels. And that’s the way it has always been!

So where else can you find mom and pop motels and resorts in Colorado? Many times it is where you least expect it. Look at small towns that are maybe 10 or 15 miles away from the major attractions. A great example is near Boulder, Colorado. You can’t really find them in Boulder at all, but look just west of the city and you’ll find two or three, or look just west of the town of Lyons. Lyons, Colorado is just north of Boulder. Here you’ll find a couple more. These are all great places, with a lot of personality.

Stay close to the interstate, or the well known ski resorts like Vail, Beaver Creek and Aspen, and it will be difficult to come by mom and pop lodges. Your best bet for finding them in these areas is to look in the surrounding small mountain towns again, and even a little further in the boonies. Another option is to look in the ski towns that were significant towns before skiing became popular. This includes Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, and maybe Aspen or Telluride.

Keep in mind, many of the mom and pop motels and resorts don’t advertise on the big hotel web sites. They have to watch there advertising dollar much more carefully. But you will find them on a lot of other Colorado vacation and lodging web sites that are not bound to the big reservation systems. To find what’s not in the main stream, you need to look out of the main stream.

There is something very important too about these smaller, independently owned and operated lodges and resorts. They are not big corporate machines! These family businesses are built on hard work and a lot of dedication. And, they are up against massive marketing budgets and big corporate structures of the chain hotels. They should be given a lot of credit for providing a service that is unique, and serves the public without being a commodity.

So, when I stay at one of these lodges, I always thank the owner or staff, tip more generously, and overlook a minor inconvenience. The big hotels all strive to offer the best service with the most up to date rooms and technology, but that’s not everything. I always feel proud that my business is actually helping out a family run business directly.

Tips On Pet Friendly Hotels And Motels

It is easier than you think to find Pet friendly hotels and pet friendly motels when traveling with your pets. Although many hotel establishments still don’t allow pets of any kind in their rooms, there are many that do. Most of the time there will be no extra charge for accommodating your family pet, but sometimes you will be asked to pay a small fee usually ranging anywhere from 5 dollars to 50 dollars. Pet hotels and pet friendly motels are extremely convenient for travelers who do not want to go through the hassle of leaving their pet to the care of friends, family or expensive boarding businesses.

When making the reservations you should indicate the breed of your dog, as some hotels have restrictions on the size and type. Another question to ask, would be if you were allowed to leave your pet unattended in the room. Be sure you understand the hotel’s pet policy so there is no misunderstanding when you get there. If you know the policies both you and your pet will be comfortable.

In addition to the refundable pet fee some pet friendly places may mention that they only allow “Well-behaved” pets, so teach your pet a few lessons in manners before you decide to take it on your holiday. The luxury hotels like the Ritz Carlton and Onyx will treat your pet like a king. Your pet will be groomed and pampered just like you will be. So, go ahead and enjoy a lovely vacation with your family pet.

Try to keep to your pets schedule as faithfully as possible. Pack the pet’s favorite food and toys so he will feel comfortable. Just like packing for yourself, pack any medications or vitamins that your pet will need. Be sure to have your pet’s veterinary’s number on hand just in case there is an emergency. If you are in another town, your vet maybe able to recommend the services of a vet in the town you are visiting.

Make sure you have the pet’s identification which includes a contact number, the pets name and an immunization tag if applicable. Never leave your pet outside alone. He could be stolen or antagonized enough that he will bite. Always keep the pet hydrated, especially if you are in a hot atmosphere.

Use common sense when traveling with a pet. And, above all, be polite regarding other guests at the establishment.

Premium Segment Hotels Stake on Children

On the market of VIP-tourism survive only those who are able to offer anything exclusive. Above all, this refers to hotels that appear in big business cities and resorts.

This may be either an ancient castle-hotel, or a villa on the ocean coast, or a fashionable modern architectural creation. The main characteristic feature of these hotels is assurance of the highest service level. An exclusive hotel is a common notion. The term “premium segment” hotel does not exist in the official hotel classification.

France is the only exception to the rule, since instead of five-star hotels it has three categories of four-star hotels for a while now.

The most expensive hotel in the world is considered the Geneva hotel “President Wilson”. One night in its royal penthouse costs more than 53 thousand dollars. The second place is occupied by the hotel “Palms Casino” with 40 thousand dollars per night. The third place belongs to the Tokyo hotel “Ritz-Carlton” in which a well-to-do guest shall have to pay 17 thousand dollars for a night. The fourth place is occupied by the “Martinez Hotel” in Cannes where the price for the President apartment makes up 13 thousand dollars and more. The top five hotels are brought up by “Emirates Palace” in Abu Dhabi (the United Arab Emirates) with more than 12 thousand dollars per night.

However, new players appear on this market - the countries of the South-East Asia (Malaysia and Singapore), where high service level hotels are being built. Russia also learns to surprise with unique service and high prices. The base room in the Moscow hotel “Ritz-Carlton” costs more than one thousand dollars per night and the President apartment shall cost you 16 thousand dollars.

Although, the representatives of the hotel business note that Asian and European tourist flows do not cross, the sphere of hotel luxury is informally competing in creation of even more luxurious hotel complexes that can offer their guests exclusive services. Some of them put an emphasis on accommodating married couples with children. In particular, this is one of the latest trends in hotel business in Paris. If parents arrive with their child, they are given gifts, milk and cookies are served for children right to the room.

Another modern hotel trend represents hotels that are prohibited for children below certain age. Owners of these hotels are governed by the fact that their clients do not like hue-and-cry made by children.

It is traditionally believed that premium-class hotels are characterized by incomplete load due to their high prices. However, guests of the program “The Sphere of Interests” claim the contrary. As a rule, hotels cannot offer anything to their customers who book a room one day before their arrival.

At the same time, on the threshold of the New Year holidays or at the height of the season prices in hotels of this category remain the same. The difficulties may arise only due to the fact that you shall not be able to stay at premium segment hotels for one night only, since they offer their customers only accommodation for several days.

Mountain Resorts With Ghosts

At first sight, a mountain resort is actually not the best place for ghosts. But if you consider that fact that most of the winter ski resorts are built in that places where previously some horrible and frightening stories happened - then a presence of an unholy soul is quite imaginary. In New England, for example, there are lots of stories about ghosts and these stories and the ghost visions have left their traces in forests and villages located near the resort area.

The Mount Washington hotel, located in the ski zone Breton Woods in New Hampshire is well-known for many years for it’s ghosts. They say, that the ghost of Caroline Stickney, the wife of the person that built this hotel still dwells in the tower suite. The ghost leaves inscriptions on the walls and periodically switches on and off the lights. Before this could be noticed only in summer but now, when the hotel is open during the whole year, the winter visitors also tell about the encounters with the “princess”. This title was assigned to Caroline when she was still alive and got married a French prince Aimon Fossine-Lussine again after the death of the husband. The hotel has rich history - here in the year 1944 the world currencies conference has been held, so you can see sometimes a group of diplomats crowded around the huge stone fireplace, discussing their economic problems.

The ghost stories surround most of the Vermont hotels. In the Stove village, the visitors of the Brass Lantern Inn tell about curious actions of the ghosts. In the Gren Mountain Inn they tell about a ghost tap-dancer on the third floor that dances during the snow storms.

In the Equinox hotel in Manchester that is located near the Stratton resort, likes to stay Mary Todd Lincoln with her children. There are rumors that this place has remained beloved even after her death. At the neighboring Wilmington resort Mount Snow in the White House Inn dwells the ghost of Claire Brown, wife of the baron that built this house.

In the West, the ghosts terrify not only the famous hotels but also numerous towns abandoned by the miners and cowboys in the past century.

On the giant slopes of the Hud Mountain, at the Timberline resort, there is a luxury hotel Timberline Lodge. This hotel has been built in the great depression times and is known as one of the most beautiful wooden constructions of his time. It’s unusual village style makes it to a frequent movie scenery. Exactly this hotel appeared in the Jack Nickolson movie “Shining”. After they watched this movie, most of the hotel guests said that they have seen the ghost wandering along the corridors squeezing an axe in his transparent hand or the white shadow hiding in the bushes.

The hotel that inspired Steven King for the creation of this novel has the name of Hoten Standley and is located in Estes Park, near the national Rocky Mountains park. The hotel is very proud about their connection with “Shining”. Near the hotel, there is a small pet cemetery that inspired Steven King for another novel named “Pet Sematary”.

In Breckenridge, Colorado, according to the rumors, there is a ghost named Sylvia. She was a wife of a miner that lived in a pansion located at the place where now the popular restaurant “Gold Dredge”. However, there is another version that tells that Sylvia was one of the women of the best town brothel located directly at the place where the new restaurant has been built.

The town Purgatory, located near the Durango Mountain resort has the glory of an old town full of ghosts. On the railroad connecting Durango and Silvertone gorge appears sometimes a ghost of an old railroad worker that has lost his legs after an accident with the trolleys. In the town itself, people staying in the Rochester hotel in the room of John Wayne, tell that they have seen a ghost of a woman dressed in a Victorian dress.

Crested Butte, Colorado - an old miner town converted to a ski resort. The reconstructed town houses keep lots of stories and evidences of ghosts encounters. The local inhabitants swear that they have seen a ghost hitchhiking at the road leading to the town. Others tell about women ghosts that could be seen in early mourning looking out of the Slogars hotel or dancing in the Eldorado hotel.

Nowadays, according to the stories, the News Mexico mountains are full of ghost Indians. The inhabitants of the Taos Pueblo village think that the Taos mountain is holy but the ski resort has been anyways built there. They say that even the Santa Fe ski resort was founded also on the sacred places of the Indians. Further to the South, there is a town Ruidoso on the Ski Apache resort territory, there the Apache Indians spirits are neighboring the soldiers ghosts that have been staying in a camp in fort Stanton and the ghost of the Billy Kid. And don’t forget - Roswell is the American center of the ghost tales.

In the North, in Canada, a castle-like hotel Fairmont Banff Springs offers apartments for the hundreds of ski-riders and snowboarders that have rest at the three neighboring resorts Norquay, Sunshine and Lake Louise. There are several ghosts in this hotel, whose existence has been proven with lots of evidences. These are the ghost concierge that opens the doors since 1960 welcoming the guests and repairs the lights, the ghost of a bride that got tangled in the train of the wedding dress and rolled down the stairs. They say that she is still wandering along the corridors of the hotel and sometimes they see her dancing in her elegant but unlucky dress.

Jumbo Hostel - A New Kind of Accommodation Made Reality

Nothing could sound further from reality, but it is a fact that the new Jumbo Hostel is coming. And it came to one between many crazy swedes to take the decision to buy the property of a landed Jumbo 747 that used to belong to Transjet, a company that lost it’s license to operate back in 2002.

During all those years this old Jumbo has been simply landed there, in the third runway of Arlanda airport, the main one in Stockholm, Sweden. The fact is that many times in my flights I wondered about this Jumbo being always there. I didn’t really know why it was not being used, and it seems that somebody has taken initiative and is going to give new wings to the bird.

By the way, not wings to make it fly high, but to make it become a permanently landed youth Jumbo Hostel that will offer competitive prices in a privileged location very very close to the airport.

The idea for the Jumbo Hostel is to take the 500 seats away and convert it into an 80 bedroom youth hostel where the cabin will be used as the main suite. At same time, I guess that rooms on the second floor will be priced higher, or maybe he has a better and/or craziest idea to place in the upper floor. Whatever it is done with the Jumbo Hostel, it will be a complete revolution, as never an idea like this one has been developed. In any case, the creator feels very comfortable with it and in fact is planning to further expand and create a youth hostels chain called “Jumbo Hostels” in all main airports in the world.

We’ll have to wait and see if this goes further, but what seems to be sure is that in my dear Stockholm soon we’ll have a revolutionary place where to spend the nights at. And that’s what I have always said. If an American does not have an idea… only a swede could!

The only thing I am really looking for is that competence arises and I hope that as soon as the first models of Airbus A380 become inactive, somebody is going to convert them into the biggest plane hostels in the world. Let’s see how the Jumbo Hostel chain reacts to that. That’s pure competence between airlines brought to the accommodation world, isn’t it?
